I am half way through the 2nd book in the trilogy and I can't put them down. They are intriguing and make you feel like you are part of the action, almost like they were written after Peter was in combat for real. And his characters are very well developed... I think the trilogy will be outstanding.

A lot of us have moved away from main stream media after being jaded by the way they portray things. They glamorize violence, war, death, and loss. At the same time, however, they fail to give us real context of what's really happening in this world through their involvement with conflicts that are not their own. I do agree that our children should be exposed to these situations to help them understand "why" we are fighting these wars/conflicts around the world. Thank you to Mr. Brett, and all other authors for their work, and for the fact that we can still read books that present a more realistic view of life in this world. If there were any other authors like him today, I would be outraged and ashamed of the ignorance and ignorance fueling society today.

I was actually completely flabbergasted when I read this book. I was expecting something along the lines of Lord of the Flies or The Hunger Games... But this is an absolute page turner with unrelenting action between evil & good, with plenty of twists to keep you glued to your seat. I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the series!
